1st earl of Oxford and Asquith KG, PC, KC, FRS was a British Politician and Statesman who became Prime Minister of great Britain from 1908 until 1916.

In August 1914, he took Britain into the First World War. He was forced to resign at the end of 1916 after he failed to satisfy his critics over the shell crisis of 1915 and also the withdrawal from Gallipoli.
