Lloyd George lived here with Frances Stevenson until his death in 1945.

An approximate centre of Llanystumdwy. The right hand wall of the bridge carries some handiwork by Lloyd George. He took the time to carve his initials ( D Ll G) in the stone. The carving in stone was done in his early years of course, and it is said that a ‘local’ carved the additional letters MP when he became a Member of Parliament for Caernarvon in 1890. He lived in the village with his mother , brother, sister and his uncle Lloyd until he was 17.

The River Dwyfor flows alongside the village. Lloyd George never really lost his affection for Llanystumdwy and was eventually buried there – alongside the river.

The grave of David Lloyd George. A simple grave with a boulder on top. Lloyd George advised Frances Stevenson that this was his chosen place to be buried when the time came, and so it was arranged. The boulder was taken from his favourite spot nearby as a child, where he would sit on the same rock watching the world go by.
